Hello Matthews parents, I really enjoyed your site, and it bought back alot of memories for me, I too, lost my son Jereme to cancer on the 29th July 1996, so I recognized alot of people from your pictures, Jereme had non-hodgkins lymphoma with a CNS relapse, I lost him 9 months after he was diagnosed. I wish you love and peace, I know the road your on, you never forget, but time helps the pain to get a little easier.

I am devastated to find out that Matthew lost his long and extremely brave battle. It's hard to know what to say at a time like this. I have a daughter who is 6 and a son who is 3, and could not begin to imagine what it would be like to lose one of them. I hope that Matthew has left many happy memories of the lovely little boy that he was with you all. Matthew will forever be in your hearts and I will pray that over time life will get a little easier to live without Matthew.

Dear Matthew's family, I just sent Matthew a letter and then read the rest of the guest book and hadn't know until then of your loss. I've only just come across Matthew's page and I don't know what to say. You have all been so brave to share every event with any and every one who cares to look. My heart aches for your loss and I'm so sorry if my previous letter causes more pain. May God be there to ease your suffering.

I am 53 years of age and in remission with acute myloid leukemia. I was diagnosed with this disease last May and it started with Pre-Myloiddisplacia. It turned in Acute Myloid Leukemia and I had to enter the hosptital with 4 months of Chemo, blood and platelets. If it was not for my wonderful friends and my positive attitude I would not have made it. I am in remission now and I hope I stay in remission. Any feedback on staying in remission I would appreciate. Thank you for letting me sign your guest book. Paula Handsel

Dear Matthew's Family, I am 15 years old. I send my deepest condolences to your family. Matthew is free of pain and sits on a cloud watching over and praying for you. I have been following Matthew's story for a while now and I am just so emotional. Matthew has touched me so deeply, even though I have never met him. He is at peace now. I had a close friend who was like a mother to me and took me to and from school every school day at Primary School. Sadly she lost a 3 year battle with Leukemia in April this year. This just shows us how short life is. Matthew was loved by many around the world, especially his family and friends. Rest In Peace and free of pain Matthew.

Wanted to send my deepest condolences. I run with Team and Training to help fight nasty diseases like leukemia and also to help alleviate some of the pain. I know what Matthew had to endure as I had leukemia when I was his age but managed to rid it. I am now 29 and have not had a relapse but I will help fight for the others who are less fortunate. Goodbye Matthew. You are a brave and much loved little boy, and you deserve to rest now. We thank you and your family for sharing yourselves through your website with so many people you dont know around the world. We feel privileged to have known you in this way. We have shared your adventures(and you've jammed alot in!- Geordie loved seeing you with all his favourite entertainers); we prayed for you when times were bad. We've marvelled at your smile; your family's strength, and the amount of love that you can see in a photograph. Knowing you has taught us alot, and we wont forget you. Matthew we say a prayer of thanks for you, and know you are in a safe place free from the burden of illness, breathing free and smiling. We wish your family well and will keep them in our thoughts. I am 34 now, but I had AML nearly 10 years ago, and I am now well and have two little girls. I will be thinking of you and your mum and dad and your sister and everything you are going through. Hello Matthew! Whatever you're doing today, I hope you're having fun! It was lovely to meet you in hospital, you have a great smile. I like Big Bird too! I made a Big Bird bath for him in my back yard (out of an Otto bin - well, it's the thought that counts). He's welcome to fly in and visit me anytime, as long as he doesn't land on the clothesline. Anyway Matthew, take care, I'll be thinking of you! love from Dr. Twang, Surgeon of Songs (green eybrows, big red noze, extemely intelligent, good spella)

On 10/9/95 my son Brynn was diagnosed with ALL. On 7/7/98 Brynn was given a bone marrow transplant. His 5 year old sister Ashleigh donated her stem cells. The transplant did succeed but on the 13/10/99 Brynn relapsed for the 2nd time. Tradically we lost Brynn on the 1st February 2000. We are all trying to heal the loss and emptiness of a beautiful, placid, special little man. Our family wish you all well and hope and pray everything turns positive for your family and Matthew.

Stan and Mike and some of Mike's friends are at the cottage to dig up the water line as the people are coming soom to move the cottage hollus- bollus to one side while they put better supports under it. Some of us have to stay here and work. Lucky us. Say Hullo to Kayla and Mum and Dad and keep your oxygen levels up

Dear Matthew, We used to live in Dulwich Hill three houses from your father's parents and we knew your father when he was quite young. Also your grandmother told us about your condition at the very beginning. We were very concerned about you and your family. We are so pleased to read of your improvement. We did meet you and Kayla one day and we hope to see you in the future. Could you give Grandma a message for me please? Tell her I am writing to her VERY SOON. Matthew, we will keep reading your web page to keep up to date with your progress. dmschultz@bigpond.com God bless you. Love and prayers, Don & Marlene Schultz

Dear Matthew, My name is Deborah. I have 2 children - Alexander is 14, and Imogen is 4. Imogen just loves Hi-5, and this is how I found your web-site, when I was looking for Hi-5. I used to work in the cancer ward at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, but that was a very long time ago - Alex was a little bit younger than you. I nursed lots of children like you, and they are all very brave little people. I know that you must also be very strong - it's not easy to go through what you have. I hope you are keeping well at the moment, and that you continue to improve. Lots of love, hugs and kisses, Deborah.XOXOXOXOXOXO

Hi Matthew! My name is Katy and I am turning 4 years old in September. We like a lot of the same things! I really like Hi-5, my favourites are Nathan and Kathleen. I like to sing and dance along to all the songs. I also really love Toy Story, and I got a Toy Story showbag at the Easter Show, just like you! I can't decide whether I like Woody or Buzz the best. I go to kindy two days a week and I like to draw and paint when I get there. I thought I would say hello because my daddy is sick with cancer, and even though I don't really know what it must be like for you, I know I don't like it when my daddy has to go to hospital. It is really hard sometimes, but I am lucky that my family loves each other very much, and it looks like your family loves each other a lot too! I really hope you are feeling better soon. Maybe we might see each other at a Hi-5 or Wiggles concert! Lots of love from Katy (and her mum, Maxine)

Dear Matthew and Parents, I have followed Matthew's progress for nearly six months now, since I first found his website. Matthew is an amazing, inspirational and obviously very well-loved little boy. I had an idea, which I wanted to share with you, for you to share with those you know who could make this happen if it is not already. Beyond financial donations and funding, what is really needed for the Cordal Blood Bank is cord donations. I think it would be a really effective communication tool, if all consulting GP's or obstetricians counselled the pregnant women in their care of the uses and need for umbilical cord donations. I think this could really increase the number donated, to increase the possibility of finding a match for children in need.

Hi Matthew It was great to see your sight today. My son Andrew is having his 16th birthday on Thursday (20/04). He has AML too. He first had it when you was just five and had an auto transplant. He was well for nearly five years and then he relapse. Then he had a transplant using an unrelated donor. That was in January 1995 when he was just 10. He is very well and keeps getting better all the time. This year he is in year 10 at school and doing very well, even after all his treatments and missing lots of time from school. Matthew you just keep getting better and show the world what a great survivor you are. My thoughts are with you and your family. Sue

Hi Matthew, My name is Jayden and I will be three years old on Sunday. My mum came across your website when she was searching for Hi 5. She is going to make me a Hi 5 birthday cake. I like Charli best and also Jeff from the Wiggles. I have a Dorothy the Dinosaur hat and a lot of their videos too. I went and saw the Wiggles in concert last year. You are lucky to have met the Hi 5 team. I hope you are feeling well. I love your website and will keep in touch. Good Luck, Jayden xxx

DEAR Matty, hi my name is jackie coe of condobolin. i do not have leukaemia so i'ii cut the crap by not telling you that i know what your going through because i don't. as a matter of fact the only reason i visited this site is because my teacher made me do it. But i am actually glad i did because it's very interesting. I did not realise that you where only 4 so i know now that you will probably never read my message to you but crapp happens to me all the time. I realise now just how lucky i am to have my full health behind me and not to have suffered from leukaemia or anything like that as amatter of fact the only major thing that i had ever suffered from was measles when i was seven. anyway your your story has touched me more deeply than anything that i have read before although i still do not understand fully so i couldn't image just how sick you are all i know is that it would be worse than drinking a bottle ofbourban or rum straight well bye. jackie coe

I'm in Science class at the moment. We are doing a research project on bones and diseases that affect them. I'm 14 but that's not really important. I heard you like Hi-5. This might sound stupid but I do too! I watch the TV show when I don't have to go to School. I gotta go, we have to write some stuff down. See ya! -Sarah
