How you can help |
 People
have been asking how they can help. One way you can help is by donating blood at your local blood bank. I
sometimes needed many transfusions a week and often had to wait for blood to be in stock.
It doesn't matter what blood type you are, someone will benefit from your donation.

This is my friend Melissa, she was diagnosed with AML in 1998 the same as me. Unfortunately, she also relapsed after her autologous bone marrow transplant just days before I did. She is currently in remission and awaiting another bone marrow transplant. The doctors have been unable to find a suitable bone marrow donor for her. There is a shortage of mixed race donors. In Melissa's case Italian and Lebanese. Do you know anyone with this background? |

11th October 2000 Unfortunately this morning Melissa's brave struggle ended. She will be missed by everyone, please keep her in your prayers too. Goodbye Melissa and may God bless you.

By joining the Bone Marrow Registry you may be able to help Melissa and others like us. It only takes a quick blood test to tissue type you for the registry. Contact your local Red Cross for further information. |
